Parenting
How we help with parentingWe offer parenting sessions to help parents learn strategies, based on best practices, to improve the parent-child relationship. We usually start by conducting an assessment with parent(s) and child to understand concerns. Assessments may include reaching out to school professionals/teachers, or other professionals involved with your family, to get additional information related to your concerns. We may meet with family members separately during the assessment phase. We then develop a plan of action collaboratively with your family.
Our approach to parenting work is based on Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), play therapy approaches, systems therapy, and CBT techniques. We often work to heal or repair the parent-child relationship, while addressing any particular problem behaviors. Treatment is tailored to each family, and adapted based on a variety of factors, such as age of the child and cultural background of the family. Vertical Divider
