About: Lawrence Morgan, BA, Patient Care Coordinator
(He/They)
Approach to helpingLawrence serves as the ‘front door’ to J&L Psychology: He greets potential clients, current patients, and referring providers with a warmth and compassion he exudes from his first smiling “hello.” Lawrence’s authenticity is communicated through his understanding of how to make connections. His goal is to find you the right therapist or the appropriate resources. As with many of our clients, Lawrence is drawn to the J&L philosophy of Kintsugi, which celebrates imperfections in creating a stronger, more meaningful life. We put the pieces in place together, starting with a conversation.
Experience and focusAs a former police officer, Lawrence was moved by the impact of mental health issues on many of the individuals he encountered in his work. While assisting people in emotional crises, Lawrence gained insight into how trauma and mental health challenges affect people’s ability to communicate what’s wrong. As a result of his experience with law enforcement, Lawrence discovered his professional passion is to bridge the gap between first responders and the public they serve. Working at J&L gives him a platform from which to connect people to mental health services while he pursues an advanced degree in speech and language pathology.
Lawrence earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, NY, and is enrolled in Queens College to complete prerequisites for his graduate education. More about my storyWhen he’s not working or studying, you can find Lawrence taking long walks along the Hudson River, listening to music, reading, or being entertained by his two mischievous cats.
We look to Lawrence to help us with administrative tasks and keep us organized. We rely on his analytical and problem-solving skills to help us run the practice efficiently. And we embrace his ethic of caring for the vulnerable among us. Vertical Divider
